Possible Causes
Misaligned basket detection microswitch, Broken actuator tab on basket or drawer, Failed door switch, Loose switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the fryer before accessing internal switches. Do not bypass safety interlocks for normal use.
E10 is commonly related to the safety switch that detects whether the basket/drawer is fully inserted.
- Check basket insertion: Remove and firmly reinsert the basket/drawer until it clicks. Ensure no food or foil is caught on the rails.
- Inspect actuator tab: Look along the side or bottom of the basket/drawer for a small plastic tab that presses the internal switch. If broken or worn, the switch may not engage.
- Listen for click: Slowly insert the basket while listening for a faint click from the microswitch. No click suggests misalignment or failure.
- Access switch (advanced): Remove the side or bottom cover (depending on model) to locate the basket detection switch. Check that its mounting bracket is secure and that the actuator lever moves freely.
- Test switch: Disconnect the switch and test continuity with a multimeter while pressing the actuator. Replace the switch if it does not change state.
- Repair actuator: If the basket tab is broken, replace the basket/drawer assembly with an Oster-compatible part.
