Possible Causes

Corrupted control board firmware, Power surge damage, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Loose ribbon cable between keypad and main board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before touching the control panel internals. Avoid using the fryer in very humid environments.

E6 generally indicates an internal electronics fault.

  • Hard reset: Unplug the fryer for at least 15 minutes to discharge internal capacitors. Plug back in and test.
  • Check for moisture: If the unit was recently cleaned or used under a cabinet where steam accumulates, allow it to dry for several hours in a warm, dry room before retrying.
  • Inspect control connections (advanced): Remove the screws securing the top/control housing. Carefully lift the panel to access the main control board. Check that the ribbon cable from the touch panel is fully seated and not corroded.
  • Look for burn marks: Examine the board for burned components or swollen capacitors. If present, the board must be replaced.
  • Replace control board: If E6 persists after reseating cables and drying, install an Oster-compatible main control board assembly. Transfer any mounting hardware and reconnect all harnesses exactly as original.
