Possible Causes
Incomplete curing of internal paint or coatings, Residual manufacturing oils, Overheating of decorative trim pieces
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Use good ventilation when operating a new fryer. If the odor is very strong or causes irritation, discontinue use.
- Extended burn-in: Run the fryer empty at 375–400°F (190–200°C) for 15–20 minutes several times, allowing it to cool between cycles.
- Clean interior: Wipe all accessible interior surfaces with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly.
- Inspect for discoloration: Look for areas of paint or plastic that appear scorched. If present, the unit may be overheating and should be inspected by a technician.
- Contact support: If odor persists after several burn-in cycles and cleanings, contact Oster support; replacement may be warranted.
