Possible Causes

Drifted NTC temperature sensor, Poor sensor placement due to bent bracket, Grease insulating sensor from air, Control board calibration error

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before adjusting any internal components.

  • Verify with thermometer: Use an oven-safe thermometer placed in the basket to compare actual temperature to the set temperature over a 10–15 minute cycle.
  • Clean sensor area: Locate the temperature sensor near the heater and clean off any heavy grease or residue that could insulate it.
  • Straighten sensor bracket: Ensure the sensor is positioned in the airflow, not pressed against metal surfaces. Gently bend the bracket back into place if needed.
  • Replace sensor: If readings are consistently off by a large margin and cleaning/positioning do not help, replace the NTC temperature sensor with an Oster-compatible part.
  • Control board: Persistent large errors after sensor replacement may indicate a miscalibrated control board, which would need replacement.
