Possible Causes
Open heating element, Blown thermal fuse in heater circuit, Failed heater relay on main control board, Loose or burned heater wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the fryer and allow it to cool before accessing the heater area.
- Check temperature setting: Verify that a temperature above room temperature is selected and that preheat time is sufficient.
- Visual inspection: Look up at the heating element while running a short cycle. If it never glows red (on models where it is visible), suspect a heater circuit issue.
- Access heater wiring (advanced): Remove the rear/bottom cover to expose the heating element, thermal fuse, and thermostat.
- Test continuity: With power disconnected, test the heating element, thermal fuse, and thermostat for continuity. Replace any open component with an Oster-compatible part.
- Inspect connectors: Tighten or replace any loose or discolored spade connectors on the heater and safety devices.
- Control board relay: If all heater components test good but no voltage is supplied during a cook cycle, replace the main control board.
