Possible Causes
Worn rotary encoder, Contaminated encoder contacts, Loose encoder mounting, Broken knob shaft
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before removing the control knob or panel.
Steps:
- Knob inspection: Pull off the control knob (if removable) and check for cracks or stripped splines. Replace the knob if it does not grip the shaft firmly.
- Encoder cleaning: Access the rotary encoder on the control PCB. Use electronic contact cleaner to gently clean the encoder while rotating it through its full range. Allow to dry.
- Mechanical check: Ensure the encoder is firmly soldered and mounted to the PCB. Tighten any mounting nuts or screws.
- Replacement: If the encoder still skips or jumps values, desolder and replace it with the correct Philips-specified rotary encoder.
Warning: Avoid using excessive force on the knob; this can damage the encoder shaft.
