Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool completely. Do not attempt to run the unit with the cover removed.
Steps to diagnose:
- Reset and cool: If E2 appears after heavy use, let the unit cool for 30–45 minutes, then try again. If E2 appears immediately on power-up, proceed.
- Open the housing: Remove the basket and drawer. Turn the unit upside down and remove the screws holding the bottom and rear covers. Carefully lift the covers to access the heater and wiring.
- Inspect the sensor and wiring: Locate the NTC sensor near the heating element. Check for melted insulation, bare wires touching the metal frame, or oil/grease buildup around the sensor head.
- Clean and secure: Wipe off any oil or residue around the sensor with a dry cloth. Ensure the sensor is firmly clipped in place and not touching the heating element directly.
- Check resistance (advanced): With a multimeter, measure resistance across the sensor leads at room temperature. A reading near 0Ω indicates a shorted sensor. Replace the sensor assembly if shorted.
- Inspect the connector: Disconnect the sensor plug from the control board, check for moisture or corrosion, and dry/clean gently. Reconnect firmly.
- Reassemble and test: Refit covers, plug in, and run a short preheat. If E2 remains, the control board may be misreading the sensor and will likely need replacement.
Do not bypass: Never bypass or short the sensor to force the unit to run; this can cause overheating and fire risk.
