Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool. Never insert tools into the fan area while the unit is plugged in.
Initial checks:
- Listen for fan: When starting a cycle (before E6 appears), listen for the fan. If it hums or is silent, suspect a motor or driver issue.
- Visual inspection: Remove the basket and look up toward the heater guard. Check if the fan spins freely when gently nudged with a wooden stick (with power disconnected).
Internal inspection (advanced):
- Access fan assembly: Remove rear or top cover to expose the fan motor and blades.
- Check for obstructions: Remove any food debris, screws, or warped metal shields that may be rubbing on the fan blades.
- Spin test: Manually spin the fan. It should rotate smoothly with minimal resistance. If stiff or grinding, the motor bearings are likely failing.
- Check wiring: Inspect the fan motor connector at the control board and at the motor. Reseat connectors and look for heat damage.
- Voltage test (advanced): With extreme caution and only if qualified, power the unit and measure voltage at the fan motor leads when a cycle starts. If proper voltage is present but the fan does not run, replace the motor. If no voltage, the control board driver is likely faulty.
Reassembly: After clearing obstructions or replacing the fan motor, reassemble all covers and test for E6.
