Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between display PCB and main control PCB, Oxidized connector contacts, Damaged display board, Faulty main control board microcontroller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before opening the control panel area.
Steps:
- Access control panel: Remove screws securing the top or front control panel. Carefully lift the panel to expose the display PCB and ribbon cable.
- Check ribbon cable: Ensure the flat cable is fully inserted into its connector on both the display and main board. Release and reinsert if necessary, locking any retaining clips.
- Inspect for damage: Look for kinks, tears, or burn marks on the ribbon. Replace the cable if damaged.
- Clean contacts: If accessible, gently clean the connector contacts with a soft brush or electronics contact cleaner (applied to a cotton swab, not sprayed directly).
- Reassemble and test: Refit the control panel and test for normal operation. If E9 persists, either the display PCB or main control PCB is defective and should be replaced.
Tip: When replacing boards, match the part number printed on the original PowerXL board to ensure compatibility.
