Possible Causes
Defective start/pause touch button, Cracked control panel PCB, Loose ribbon cable between UI and main board, Basket not detected by safety switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before opening the control panel.
User-level checks:
- Basket fully inserted: Ensure the drawer is pushed in firmly. Many PowerXL models will not start unless the basket switch is engaged.
- Try different modes: Select a preset and then press start. If none respond, suspect the UI.
UI inspection (advanced):
- Access control panel: Remove screws securing the top/front panel to expose the touch PCB.
- Check ribbon cable: Ensure the cable from the UI board to the main board is fully seated.
- Inspect for cracks: Look for physical cracks in the PCB near the start button area or signs of liquid ingress.
- Button test: If the panel uses tactile switches under a membrane, press directly on the switch and listen/feel for a click. Replace the UI board if the switch is unresponsive.
Reassembly: After reseating cables or replacing the UI board, reassemble and test start functionality.
