Possible Causes

Blocked air vents causing overheating, Failed overheat thermostat (thermal cutoff) stuck open, Faulty fan motor not circulating air, Grease buildup on heater and sensor causing false high readings

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and let it cool for at least 30 minutes before working on it.

Steps to address E3:

  • Check ventilation: Ensure the air fryer has at least 10 cm clearance on all sides and is not placed under low cabinets. Clear any obstructions from rear and bottom vents.
  • Clean interior: Remove basket and pan. Clean the heating element area and temperature sensor with a soft brush and a slightly damp cloth to remove baked-on grease that can cause hot spots.
  • Verify fan operation: Start the unit on a low temperature with the basket removed (if the model allows). Look through the top or rear grill to confirm the fan spins. If the fan does not run, unplug and inspect the convection fan motor and its wiring.
  • Inspect thermal cutoff: Access the top housing and locate the small disc-type thermostat or thermal fuse mounted near the heater. Check for discoloration or signs of overheating. A blown thermal fuse will read open on a continuity test.
  • Replace faulty parts: Replace a failed thermal cutoff / overheat thermostat or convection fan motor with Princess-compatible parts. Ensure all wiring is reconnected securely and routed away from hot surfaces.
