Possible Causes
Shorted heating element, Damaged heater wiring harness, Short on main control PCB triac or relay, Grease or moisture causing tracking between live parts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and wait until it is completely cool. Do not attempt to run the unit again until the fault is investigated.
Steps to address E5:
- Visual inspection: Remove the basket and look up at the heating element. Check for broken coils, heavy carbonization, or areas where the element may be touching metal.
- Access heater wiring: Remove the top cover to expose the heating element terminals and wiring harness. Look for burned connectors, melted insulation, or signs of arcing.
- Continuity test: With a multimeter, measure resistance across the heating element terminals. A very low resistance (near 0 Ω) or direct short to chassis indicates a failed element.
- Check control components: Inspect the main control PCB for a shorted triac or relay controlling the heater (burn marks, cracked package). If suspected, the board should be replaced rather than repaired at component level.
- Replace faulty parts: Install a new heating element assembly or main control PCB as required. Ensure all wiring is correctly routed and secured away from hot surfaces.
