Possible Causes
Worn or contaminated rotary encoder, Loose encoder mounting, Broken encoder shaft, Faulty encoder input on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before removing the control panel or knob.
Steps to address E12:
- 1. Clean the knob area: If your Proscenic model has a rotary knob, wipe around the base with a dry cloth to remove grease and crumbs that may interfere with movement.
- 2. Check for mechanical damage: Gently pull the knob outward to see if it is loose or cracked. Replace the knob if damaged.
- 3. Access the encoder: Remove the control panel cover to expose the rotary encoder mounted on the PCB. Ensure the encoder is firmly soldered and the mounting nut (if present) is tight.
- 4. Test the encoder: Rotate the encoder while monitoring its output with a multimeter or continuity tester (advanced). If the signal is intermittent or stuck, the encoder is likely worn.
- 5. Replace the encoder: Desolder the faulty encoder from the PCB and install a compatible replacement, or replace the entire control PCB if the encoder is not separately serviceable.
- 6. Reassemble and test: Refit the control panel and knob, then plug in the unit and verify that timer and temperature adjustments respond smoothly without jumping.
Warning: Avoid using excessive force on the knob; this can damage the encoder and PCB.
