Possible Causes
Open-circuit heating element, Loose heater terminals, Burnt connector on main PCB heater output, Failed heater relay on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool completely before opening the housing.
Steps to address E5:
- 1. Confirm symptom: Start a cooking cycle and check if the fan runs but no heat is produced and E5 appears. Then unplug the unit.
- 2. Access the heater: Remove the top or bottom cover (depending on model) to expose the heating element and its terminals. The element is usually a circular or U-shaped coil above the cooking cavity.
- 3. Inspect connections: Check the spade terminals or screws where the heater connects to the wiring harness. Tighten any loose connections and look for discoloration or melting at the connectors. Replace any burnt terminals or wires.
- 4. Test the element: Disconnect at least one heater lead and measure resistance across the heating element with a multimeter. A typical value is between 10–40Ω. If the meter reads open (OL), the element is broken and must be replaced.
- 5. Check the PCB heater output: Inspect the main control board where the heater wires connect. Look for burnt solder joints, cracked traces, or a damaged relay. If the relay is visibly burnt or the board is charred, replace the main PCB.
- 6. Reassemble and test: After replacing the heating element or PCB, reassemble the housing, ensuring all wires are routed away from hot surfaces. Plug in and run a short preheat to verify normal operation.
Warning: Never bypass the heater safety circuits or operate the unit with exposed wiring.
