Possible Causes
Shorted NTC sensor, Sensor wires pinched against chassis, Moisture ingress in sensor connector, Control PCB fault reading sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect the air fryer from mains power and let it cool fully.
- Inspect for moisture: If the unit was recently cleaned, check for moisture around the top vents and inside the housing. Allow the unit to dry for 24 hours in a warm, dry place and try again.
- Open the housing: Remove rear/bottom screws and carefully lift the cover to access the heater and sensor wiring.
- Check sensor wiring: Look for crushed or pinched sensor wires where the cover meets the body. If insulation is damaged and wires are touching, this can cause a short. Separate and re-insulate with high-temperature heat-shrink or replace the harness.
- Connector inspection: Disconnect the NTC sensor plug from the control PCB. Check for corrosion or moisture. Clean gently with isopropyl alcohol and let dry.
- Measure resistance: With the sensor disconnected, measure resistance across the sensor. If it reads near 0 Ω (short) or extremely low compared to spec, the sensor is defective and must be replaced.
- Replace sensor if needed: Install a new Russell Hobbs NTC temperature sensor assembly. Clip it back to the heater shroud in the same position as the original.
- Reassemble and test: Refit covers, plug in, and test. If E2 persists with a known-good sensor, the control PCB may be faulty and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
