Possible Causes
Failed fan motor, Jammed fan blades, Broken fan motor wiring, Faulty fan driver circuit on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before any disassembly.
- Check for obstructions: Remove the basket and inspect the fan area above the heater (through the guard). Look for food debris or warped plastic touching the fan blades.
- Listen for fan: Plug in and start a cycle briefly. If you hear a hum but no airflow, the fan may be jammed or the motor is failing. Unplug again.
- Access fan assembly: Remove the rear/top cover to expose the fan motor and blades.
- Free the fan: Manually rotate the fan. If it is stiff or scraping, remove any debris and check that the fan is not rubbing on the shroud. Tighten the fan nut if loose.
- Check wiring: Inspect the fan motor wires and connector to the control PCB. Reseat the connector and repair any damaged wires.
- Test motor (advanced): With the unit unplugged, measure resistance across the fan motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Replace with a compatible Russell Hobbs fan motor assembly.
- Control PCB check: If the motor tests good but never receives voltage during operation, the fan driver on the control PCB may be faulty and the board will need replacement.
- Reassemble and test: After repairs, reassemble and run a test cycle, confirming strong airflow from the exhaust vents.
