Possible Causes
Faulty internal SMPS power supply on control PCB, Loose mains connector, Damaged power cord, Overheated or failed varistor or fuse on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the air fryer. Internal power supply components are connected to mains voltage; only attempt advanced checks if you are competent with electrical safety.
- External power check: Test the wall outlet with another appliance. Avoid using long extension leads or multi-way adaptors that may cause voltage drop.
- Inspect power cord: Check the Russell Hobbs power cord for cuts, kinks, or burn marks. If damaged, replace the power cord set with the correct rating.
- Check mains inlet: If your model has a detachable mains inlet, ensure it is firmly seated and not loose.
- Open housing (advanced): Remove covers to access the control PCB. Visually inspect for burnt components, bulging capacitors, or cracked solder joints around the transformer or power supply section.
- Fuse/varistor check: Some boards include a small fuse or fusible resistor. Test continuity and replace only with identical rated components if blown.
- PCB replacement: If the power supply section shows damage or E8 persists, replace the entire control PCB / power module rather than attempting component-level repair unless you are qualified.
- Reassemble and test: After any cord or PCB replacement, reassemble and test for stable operation without E8.
