Possible Causes
Broken plastic latch tab on basket, Worn latch catch in housing, Misaligned basket detection switch actuator, Foreign object blocking latch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug before inspecting the latch area.
- Inspect latch components: Examine the basket handle and latch tab for cracks or missing pieces. Replace the basket if the latch is broken.
- Check for obstructions: Look inside the latch recess for crumbs or debris preventing full engagement. Clean thoroughly.
- Actuator alignment: Verify that the latch tab lines up with the internal microswitch actuator. If misaligned, adjust the switch bracket or replace worn parts.
- Test switch manually: With the unit unplugged and cover removed, press the switch by hand and listen for a click. If it does not click or fails continuity tests, replace the microswitch.
