Possible Causes
Blown thermal cutoff fuse on heater assembly, Blocked air vents causing overheating, Failed high‑limit thermostat, Heater wiring short to chassis
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool completely. Do not bypass any safety devices for testing.
- Check airflow: Ensure the rear and side ventilation slots are not blocked by walls, cabinets, or other appliances. Maintain several centimeters of clearance around the unit.
- Clean internal air paths: Remove the basket and clean the interior, especially the top area around the heater and fan. Heavy grease buildup can trap heat. Use a soft brush and a slightly damp cloth; avoid soaking the area.
- Inspect the thermal fuse: With the cover removed (unit unplugged), locate the small cylindrical thermal fuse or thermal cutoff clipped to the heater bracket or wiring. Check for continuity with a multimeter. An open reading indicates it has blown and must be replaced with the exact temperature and current rating.
- Check the high‑limit thermostat: Some Sage models use a resettable thermostat near the heater. Test for continuity at room temperature. If open and not resettable, replace it.
- Do not bypass safeties: Never permanently bridge a thermal fuse or thermostat. This can create a fire hazard. If you are unsure, consult a professional technician.
