Possible Causes
Misaligned basket detection microswitch, Broken door latch tab, Failed reed or Hall sensor for basket detection, Loose wiring to door switch on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before manipulating internal switches or latches.
- Check basket insertion: Remove the cooking basket and reinsert it firmly until it clicks. Some Sage air fryers require the basket to be fully seated to close an internal switch.
- Inspect latch and rails: Examine the plastic latch tabs and side rails on the basket and housing. Look for cracks, deformation, or melted areas that prevent full engagement.
- Test the switch: With the unit unplugged and cover removed, locate the small microswitch or sensor near the basket cavity. Manually press the switch lever and listen for a distinct click. If there is no click or it feels loose, the switch may be faulty.
- Check continuity: Use a multimeter to test the switch contacts while pressing the actuator. Replace the switch if it does not open and close reliably.
- Adjust alignment: Slightly loosen the switch mounting screws and adjust its position so that the basket tab fully depresses it when inserted, then retighten.
