Possible Causes
Corrupted firmware on main MCU, Loose display ribbon cable, Oxidized connector between keypad and logic board, Failing main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the control panel area.
- Power reset: Unplug the fryer for at least 10 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge. Plug back in and test. This can clear transient MCU lockups.
- Check panel connections: Remove the control panel bezel and inspect the ribbon cable between the display/touch panel and the main board. Reseat the cable carefully, ensuring it is fully inserted and locked.
- Moisture check: Look for signs of moisture or steam ingress behind the panel. If present, allow the unit to dry in a warm, dry place for 24 hours before retesting.
- Firmware/board replacement: If E8 persists and all connections are secure, the main control PCB may need replacement. Firmware updates, if available from Sage, are typically applied by replacing the board.
