Possible Causes

Open heating element, Failed heater relay on control board, Loose heater terminal connection, Blown thermal cutoff fuse in heater circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug and allow the unit to cool fully before accessing internal components.

  • Confirm symptom: Set the fryer to a high temperature and start a cycle. After 3–5 minutes, carefully feel near the exhaust vents. If only cool air is blowing, the heater is not working.
  • Check basket/door switch: Some models disable heat if the basket is not detected. Ensure the basket is fully inserted and the E6‑type condition is not present.
  • Inspect heater visually: Look for breaks or burn marks on the visible heating element.
  • Test heater and fuse: With the cover removed and unit unplugged, test continuity across the heater and any inline thermal fuse. Replace any open components with correct Sage‑specified parts.
  • Control board relay: If the heater and fuse are good but no mains voltage reaches the heater during operation, the heater relay or control PCB is likely faulty and should be replaced.
