Possible Causes

Cabinet NTC sensor plug loose on main PCB, Broken NTC sensor wiring harness, Failed NTC temperature sensor probe, Damaged main control PCB sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer from the mains and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels. Never work on the unit while it is connected to power.

  • Check for obvious reset issues: Unplug the fryer for 10 minutes, then plug back in and try again. Sometimes E1 can be a transient sensor read error.
  • Inspect the sensor connector: Remove the outer housing (usually screws on the base and rear). Locate the small NTC sensor wires running from the cooking chamber to the main PCB. Ensure the white or clear 2-pin connector is fully seated on the PCB.
  • Check the sensor wiring: Look for burnt, pinched, or broken wires near the heater shroud and where the harness passes through metal panels. Repair any damaged insulation with high‑temperature sleeving or replace the harness.
  • Test the NTC sensor: Using a multimeter set to resistance, measure across the two sensor leads. A typical Salter NTC will read between 50–200 kΩ at room temperature. If it reads open (OL) or near 0 Ω, the sensor is faulty and should be replaced.
  • Replace the NTC sensor: Remove the sensor clip or screw from the heater housing, install the new sensor in the same position, route the wires away from the heating element, and reconnect to the PCB.
  • If still faulty: If a known-good sensor still gives E1, the sensor input on the main control PCB is likely damaged and the PCB should be replaced or the unit serviced by a professional.
