Possible Causes

NTC sensor wires shorted together against metal chassis, Melted sensor insulation near heating element, Failed NTC sensor internally shorted, Moisture ingress on sensor connector or PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect from mains and let the unit cool fully before inspection.

  • Visual inspection: Remove the basket and look up toward the heater area. Check for any signs of melted plastic or wiring near the top heating element where the sensor is usually clipped.
  • Access the sensor harness: Remove the outer shell to expose the wiring. Follow the thin sensor wires from the heater area to the main PCB. Look for spots where the insulation has rubbed through or melted against the metal heater bracket.
  • Correct shorts: If the two sensor wires are touching bare metal or each other, separate them and insulate with high‑temperature heat‑shrink or fiberglass sleeving. Secure the harness with cable ties away from hot surfaces.
  • Test the sensor: With a multimeter, measure resistance across the sensor leads at room temperature. A reading under ~1 kΩ or near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor. Replace the sensor if shorted.
  • Dry moisture: If there are signs of condensation or liquid on the sensor connector or PCB, dry thoroughly with a lint‑free cloth and allow the unit to air dry for several hours before reassembly.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the covers, plug in, and run a short preheat. If E2 persists with a new sensor and good wiring, the main control PCB is likely defective and should be replaced.
