Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between touch panel and main PCB, Damaged capacitive touch panel, Corroded keypad connector, Faulty control PCB interface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from mains before opening the control panel area.
- Power reset: Unplug the fryer for 10–15 minutes to discharge internal capacitors, then reconnect and test. Transient glitches can sometimes trigger E8.
- Access control panel: Remove the front fascia screws or clips to expose the touch panel and its ribbon cable. Carefully release any locking tabs on the connector.
- Inspect and reseat ribbon cable: Check the ribbon for kinks, cracks, or burn marks. Clean the contacts gently with isopropyl alcohol and reinsert fully into the PCB connector, ensuring it is straight and locked.
- Check for moisture: Look for signs of liquid ingress behind the panel (from cleaning sprays or steam). Dry thoroughly and allow several hours of airing before reassembly.
- Test panel: With the unit reassembled, power on and test each button or touch area. If some keys are unresponsive or E8 returns, the touch panel assembly is likely faulty and should be replaced.
- PCB replacement: If a new panel does not resolve E8, the main control PCB interface is defective and the PCB should be replaced.
