Possible Causes

Shorted cavity temperature sensor (NTC), Sensor wiring shorted to chassis or between leads, Overheated sensor due to airflow blockage, Failed main control PCB interpreting sensor signal

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the unit to cool fully. Do not touch internal metal parts while hot.

Initial checks:

  • Ventilation: Ensure the air fryer is placed with adequate clearance on all sides (at least several inches) and that rear and side vents are not blocked. Remove any plastic, paper, or foil obstructing airflow.
  • Basket and liner: Confirm the basket and crisper tray are correctly installed and not pressing against the sensor area inside the cavity.

Sensor and wiring inspection:

  • Remove the outer cover to access the cavity temperature sensor. Inspect the sensor body for discoloration, melting, or deformation.
  • Check the sensor wires for melted insulation or bare spots touching the metal chassis or each other.
  • Use a multimeter to measure resistance across the sensor. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor.

Corrective action:

  • If the sensor is shorted or physically damaged, replace the cavity temperature sensor (NTC) with the correct Samsung part.
  • If wiring is shorted, replace or re-insulate the sensor harness using high-temperature sleeving.
  • If the sensor tests normal but E2 persists, the main control PCB may be misreading the sensor and should be replaced by a technician.
