Possible Causes
Blocked rear or side ventilation, Failed or weak circulation fan motor, Faulty thermal cutoff (thermal fuse) near heater, Grease buildup restricting airflow around heater assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and let it cool completely. Internal components near the heater can remain hot for 30+ minutes.
External checks:
- Verify the air fryer is not pushed against a wall or inside a closed cabinet while operating. Provide ample space for hot air exhaust.
- Clean all external vents with a soft brush or vacuum to remove dust and grease.
Internal airflow and safety device checks:
- Remove the cover to access the heater and fan assembly. Inspect for heavy grease buildup on the heater shield, fan blades, and air channels. Clean with a degreaser-safe cloth (do not soak electrical parts).
- Spin the circulation fan by hand. It should rotate freely without scraping. If stiff or noisy, the fan motor may be failing.
- Locate the thermal cutoff / thermal fuse mounted near the heater. Check continuity with a multimeter. If open, it has tripped and must be replaced; also identify and correct the cause of overheating.
Corrective action:
- Thoroughly clean the heater area and fan blades to restore airflow.
- Replace a failed circulation fan motor if it does not run at full speed or is seized.
- Replace an open thermal cutoff (thermal fuse) with the exact temperature and rating specified for your Samsung model.
- If E3 persists after restoring airflow and replacing faulty parts, the main control PCB may be misreading temperature and should be evaluated by a technician.
