Possible Causes
Failed exhaust temperature sensor, Loose or corroded sensor connector, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Faulty sensor input on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and let it cool. Sensors near the exhaust can be very hot.
Locate the sensor:
- On some Samsung models, a second exhaust or ambient temperature sensor is mounted near the rear vent or on the top panel inside the unit.
- Remove the cover and trace the small-gauge wires from the exhaust area back to the main PCB.
Inspection and testing:
- Check the sensor body for cracks, discoloration, or physical damage.
- Ensure the connector at the PCB is fully seated and free of corrosion.
- Measure resistance across the sensor with a multimeter. Compare to the expected range for your model (typically several kΩ at room temperature). An open or shorted reading indicates failure.
Corrective action:
- Replace a defective exhaust temperature sensor with the correct Samsung part number.
- Repair or replace any damaged sensor harness.
- If the sensor tests good but E9 persists, the main control PCB sensor input circuit may be faulty and require replacement.
