Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Avoid touching hot surfaces; use handles only. Unplug and cool before inspection.
Steps to reduce exterior temperature:
- Improve placement: Ensure at least 10–15 cm clearance on all sides and above the unit. Do not operate under low cabinets.
- Clean vents: Remove dust and grease from all external vents with a soft brush and vacuum.
- Check fan operation: Confirm that the convection fan runs strongly during cooking. If weak or intermittent, see fan motor troubleshooting.
- Inspect internal shields: Open the housing and verify that any reflective or insulating shields around the cooking chamber are intact and properly positioned.
- Replace damaged shields: Replace any warped or missing heat shield panels specific to your SilverCrest model.
Note: Some warmth on the exterior is normal, but surfaces should not be dangerously hot under normal use.
