Possible Causes

Faulty start/pause button on touch panel, Loose ribbon cable to control PCB, Firmware glitch, Basket not detected by safety switch

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before removing any covers.

Steps to troubleshoot:

  • Confirm settings: Ensure a temperature and time are selected. Some SilverCrest models require pressing a specific start icon after program selection.
  • Check basket insertion: Remove and firmly reinsert the basket until it clicks. The basket detection microswitch must be engaged.
  • Panel reset: Unplug the unit for 10 minutes, then reconnect and try again.
  • Inspect touch panel: If other buttons work but start does not, the touch control PCB may have a failed key area. Access the panel and check the ribbon cable connection to the main PCB.
  • Replace panel or switch: Replace the touch control panel if the start button area is unresponsive. If the basket switch is not closing, replace the basket detection microswitch.

Note: Some models will not start if the set temperature is below the minimum or if the timer is at 0; verify user settings.
