Possible Causes
Failed heating element, Blown thermal fuse, Loose heater wiring, Faulty heater relay on main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and let it cool completely before opening.
Steps to diagnose no-heat condition:
- Check basic operation: Confirm that the temperature is set above room temperature and that the preheat indicator (if present) is active.
- Access heater assembly: Remove the top or rear cover to expose the heating element, thermal fuse, and wiring.
- Inspect wiring: Look for burnt or disconnected wires at the element terminals and thermal fuse. Reseat or replace damaged connectors.
- Test thermal fuse: Use a multimeter to check continuity across the thermal fuse. Replace if open with the correct SilverCrest-rated fuse.
- Test heating element: Measure resistance across the element. An open circuit indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
- Check heater relay: With the unit reassembled and powered (only for experienced technicians), listen for a click when heating should start. No click may indicate a failed relay on the main control PCB, requiring board replacement.
Warning: Always disconnect from mains before testing continuity. Do not touch internal parts when the unit is plugged in.
