Possible Causes

Blown thermal fuse, Overheated thermal cutoff thermostat, Blocked air vents causing overheating, Faulty main control PCB temperature monitoring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and let it cool for at least 30 minutes before inspection.

Steps to address E2:

  • Check for blocked airflow: Ensure the air fryer is placed on a hard, flat surface with at least 10 cm clearance around all sides and the rear. Clean any dust or grease from the rear and bottom vents using a soft brush or vacuum.
  • Clean internal grease buildup: Remove the basket and drawer. Clean the interior cavity and heating area with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Excess grease can cause localized overheating.
  • Inspect the thermal fuse and cutoff: Remove the rear or top cover to access the heating assembly. Locate the thermal fuse and any bimetal thermal cutoff thermostat mounted near the heating element. Check for signs of burning or discoloration.
  • Continuity test: With a multimeter, test the thermal fuse and cutoff for continuity. A blown fuse will show open circuit. These parts are non-resettable and must be replaced if open.
  • Replace faulty components: If the thermal fuse is blown, replace it with the correct temperature-rated SilverCrest thermal fuse specified for your model. Ensure crimp connections are tight and insulated with high-temperature sleeves.
  • Control board consideration: If all safety devices test good and vents are clear, the main control PCB may be misreading temperature and falsely triggering E2. Professional diagnosis or PCB replacement may be required.

Warning: Never bypass or short a thermal fuse or cutoff. Doing so removes critical safety protection and can lead to fire.
