Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the unit to cool completely.
Steps to resolve E3:
- Check loading and usage: Do not overfill the basket; leave space for air circulation. Avoid covering the top of the basket with foil that can trap heat.
- Clean the sensor area: Remove the basket and drawer. Look up toward the heating element. Locate the NTC temperature sensor (usually a small metal probe or bulb). Carefully clean off any baked-on grease using a soft cloth and a bit of warm soapy water. Do not bend or pull the sensor.
- Clean vents: Inspect rear and side vents for dust or grease. Clean with a soft brush and vacuum.
- Test operation: After cleaning and drying thoroughly, run the air fryer empty at a low temperature (e.g., 80–100°C) for 5–10 minutes and see if E3 reappears.
- Sensor replacement: If E3 returns quickly, the sensor may be out of tolerance. Replace with a compatible SilverCrest NTC temperature sensor for your model.
- Control board: Persistent E3 with a new sensor and clean vents suggests a defective main control PCB. Consider professional service or PCB replacement.
Warning: Do not continue to operate the unit if it repeatedly shows E3; this indicates an overheating condition that can damage internal components.
