Possible Causes
Use of metal utensils, Abrasive cleaning pads, Overheating empty basket, Manufacturing wear over time
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Stop using the basket if large flakes of coating are coming off; ingesting coating is undesirable and food may stick badly.
Steps to address coating issues:
- Inspect damage: Remove the frying basket and examine the interior surface for peeling, bubbling, or bare metal.
- Change cleaning habits: Use only soft sponges and non-abrasive cleaners. Avoid dishwasher if the manual advises hand-washing.
- Avoid metal tools: Use silicone, wooden, or plastic utensils to remove food.
- Replace basket: If coating is significantly damaged, replace the SilverCrest non-stick frying basket with a new OEM part.
Note: Do not attempt to recoat the basket with non-food-safe paints or sprays.
