Display shows E3 and the air fryer shuts off or refuses to start; fan may still run briefly.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit and let it cool completely. Overtemperature faults indicate the unit may have been running hotter than designed.
Steps:
- 1. Check ventilation: Ensure the air fryer has at least 10–15 cm clearance on all sides and is not pushed against a wall or under low cabinets. Clear any obstructions from the rear and bottom vents.
- 2. Clean interior: Remove the basket and drawer. Clean the interior cavity, especially around the heating element and fan guard, to remove baked-on grease that can trap heat. Use a soft brush and mild detergent; never spray water directly into the heater area.
- 3. Inspect thermal cut-out: Access the underside and heater area by removing the base cover. Locate the thermal fuse or bimetal thermostat mounted near the heater. Check for signs of overheating or discoloration.
- 4. Test continuity: With power disconnected, use a multimeter to test the thermal fuse/thermostat. If it is open (no continuity) and is a one-shot fuse, it must be replaced with the same temperature and rating. If it is a resettable thermostat, press any reset button if present.
- 5. Check fan operation: Confirm that the convection fan spins freely and is not obstructed by debris. A stalled fan can cause localized overheating and trigger E3.
- 6. Reassemble and test: After cleaning and replacing any failed safety devices, reassemble the unit, ensuring all covers and screws are secure, then test with a short, low-temperature cycle.
Important: Never bypass a thermal fuse or thermostat. If the unit repeatedly shows E3 after cleaning and part replacement, the main control PCB may be misreading temperature and should be evaluated by a technician.
