Possible Causes
Seized convection fan motor, Obstruction in fan blades, Loose fan motor connector, Failed fan driver circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the air fryer and let it cool. Moving parts and sharp fan blades can cause injury.
Steps:
- 1. Check for airflow: With the unit assembled, start a cycle and listen for the fan. If E6 appears and no fan noise is heard, proceed to internal inspection (after unplugging).
- 2. Access fan assembly: Remove the basket and drawer. Remove the screws holding the inner top shield (if accessible from inside) or remove the base and side screws to reach the fan and motor from below.
- 3. Inspect fan blades: Look for food debris, foil, or warped plastic obstructing the fan. Carefully remove any obstruction.
- 4. Spin test: Gently spin the fan by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding. If it is stiff or jammed, the motor bearings may be failing and the motor should be replaced.
- 5. Check wiring: Verify that the fan motor connector is firmly seated on the control board and that wires are not pinched or burned.
- 6. Electrical test: For advanced users, measure resistance across the fan motor leads. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If the motor tests good but never receives voltage during operation, the fan driver on the PCB is likely faulty.
Note: Do not operate the air fryer with the fan disabled; this can cause overheating and damage to the heater and internal plastics.
