Possible Causes
Glitch in microcontroller firmware, Loose ribbon cable between display board and main PCB, Electrical noise from failing component, Overheated control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the air fryer before opening any covers.
Steps:
- 1. Power cycle: Unplug for at least 10 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge and the microcontroller to fully reset. Plug back in and test.
- 2. Avoid power disturbances: Do not share the outlet with high‑load appliances (microwave, toaster oven) that may cause voltage dips.
- 3. Inspect control connections: Remove the top or front panel (depending on model) to access the display/control PCB. Check any ribbon cables or multi-pin connectors between the user interface board and the main power board. Reseat them carefully.
- 4. Check for heat damage: Look for discoloration or warped plastic around the control board. Ensure internal wiring is not resting directly against hot metal surfaces.
- 5. Re-test: After reseating connectors, reassemble and run a short cycle. If E8 recurs frequently, the control PCB may have an internal fault.
Note: Firmware in most Sunbeam air fryers is not user-upgradable. Persistent E8 usually requires control board replacement.
