Possible Causes

Faulty start/pause button on touch panel, Basket safety switch not detected as closed, Firmware glitch in main PCB, Damaged ribbon cable between panel and PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug before removing the control panel.

  • Check basket insertion: Ensure the drawer is fully closed and latched. Many Swan models will not start if the basket is slightly out.
  • Try different programs: Select another preset and press start. If none respond, suspect the start button or panel.
  • Panel inspection: Remove the front fascia to access the touch panel and ribbon cable. Ensure the cable is fully seated on the PCB.
  • Test the start button: If the panel uses mechanical buttons, press the start key repeatedly and feel for a positive click. A mushy or stuck button may require panel replacement.
  • Power reset: Unplug for 10 minutes to reset the control board, then test again.

If the unit still will not start despite a good basket switch and panel connection, the main PCB may need replacement.
