Possible Causes

Cabinet NTC probe connector loose on main PCB, Broken NTC sensor wiring harness, Failed NTC temperature sensor, Damaged main control PCB input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer from the mains and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to power.

  • Check for obvious reset issues: Unplug the fryer for 10 minutes to discharge the control board, then plug back in and try again. If E1 returns immediately, continue.
  • Inspect the NTC sensor connection: On most Swan digital air fryers, the NTC (temperature probe) is mounted near the heating element in the upper housing. Remove the cooking basket and drawer, then remove the upper cover (usually several Phillips screws). Locate the small two‑wire sensor clipped to the metal cavity or air channel. Ensure its plug is firmly seated on the main PCB.
  • Check the sensor wiring: Look for burnt, pinched, or broken wires between the NTC sensor and the control board. Repair any damaged insulation with high‑temperature sleeving or replace the harness if conductors are broken.
  • Test the sensor (for users with a multimeter): Disconnect the NTC from the board and measure resistance at room temperature. A typical NTC will read between 50–200 kΩ at 25°C (exact value varies by model). If it reads open (OL) or 0 Ω, the sensor is faulty and should be replaced.
  • Inspect the PCB connector: Check the NTC socket on the main PCB for corrosion, cracked solder joints, or heat damage. If the connector is loose on the board, the PCB may need professional re‑soldering or replacement.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit all covers and screws before reconnecting power. Never operate the air fryer with covers removed.

If the E1 error persists after confirming the sensor and wiring, the main control PCB is likely defective and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
