Possible Causes

NTC sensor shorted internally, Moisture or oil contamination bridging NTC terminals, Damaged NTC harness insulation causing short to chassis, Failed main PCB sensor input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from the mains and let it cool fully. Internal metal parts and the heating element can remain hot for 20–30 minutes after use.

  • Power reset: Unplug for 10 minutes, then plug back in and test. If E2 reappears immediately, proceed with inspection.
  • Access the sensor: Remove the basket and drawer. Undo the screws securing the top or rear cover (depending on model). Locate the NTC sensor clipped to the metal cavity near the heating element.
  • Check for contamination: Look for oil, grease, or moisture bridging the sensor terminals or connector. Clean gently with a dry cloth or cotton swab. Do not use excessive liquid cleaners inside the cavity.
  • Inspect wiring for shorts: Follow the two‑wire harness from the sensor to the PCB. Look for melted insulation, crushed sections, or points where the wire may touch bare metal. If insulation is damaged, replace the harness or insulate with high‑temperature heat‑shrink tubing.
  • Test the sensor: With a multimeter, measure resistance across the sensor leads at room temperature. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor that must be replaced.
  • Check PCB input: If a known‑good sensor still triggers E2, the sensor input circuit on the main PCB may be shorted. This typically requires PCB replacement.

Do not bypass or bridge the sensor; operating without a functioning temperature sensor is a fire and burn hazard.
