Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from mains before inspecting the switch mechanism. Do not bypass safety switches for testing while the unit is powered.
- Check basket seating: Remove and reinsert the basket/drawer firmly until it clicks. Ensure no food debris is preventing full insertion.
- Inspect the latch area: Look at the front edge and underside of the drawer where it slides into the body. Identify the plastic tab or protrusion that actuates the internal microswitch. If it is cracked or worn, the switch may not be triggered.
- Listen for the switch: With the unit unplugged, slowly insert and remove the drawer while listening closely near the control panel. You should hear a faint click from the microswitch. No click suggests a stuck or broken switch.
- Access the switch: Remove the outer shell screws to access the front frame where the drawer slides in. Locate the small microswitch and check that its lever is not bent and that its mounting screws are tight.
- Test continuity (advanced): Disconnect the switch and test with a multimeter while pressing the actuator. Replace the switch if it does not change state (open/close) reliably.
- Check wiring: Ensure the switch wires are intact and firmly connected to the main PCB.
Never tape or permanently bypass the safety switch; it is essential to prevent operation with the drawer removed.
