Possible Causes
Defective Start button on touch panel, Basket not fully inserted triggering safety lockout, Faulty basket interlock switch, Control board input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing internal switches or panels.
Checks:
- Confirm that time and temperature are set; some T-fal models require both before Start will work.
- Remove and firmly reinsert the basket until it clicks into place.
- Try pressing Start firmly and in different areas of the button in case of partial touch failure.
Internal diagnostics:
- Access the touch control panel and inspect the Start button area for cracks or moisture.
- Reseat the ribbon cable between the panel and main board.
- Test the basket interlock switch for continuity when the basket is inserted.
- If the Start button is unresponsive but other buttons work, replace the touch control panel assembly.
- If multiple buttons fail or random behavior occurs, the main control board may be defective.
