Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between touch panel and main PCB, Damaged capacitive touch panel, Corroded keypad connector, Failed microcontroller on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before removing the control panel or front bezel.
Steps:
- Power reset: Unplug for 10 minutes, then plug back in. Sometimes E6 is a temporary communication glitch.
- Access the control panel: Remove screws securing the front or top control panel. Carefully lift it to expose the ribbon cable or wiring harness.
- Reseat connectors: Disconnect and reconnect the ribbon cable between the touch panel and main PCB. Ensure it is fully seated and locked.
- Inspect for damage: Look for cracks in the touch panel, moisture intrusion, or corrosion on the connector pins.
- Test keypad response: With the unit reassembled and powered, test each button. If some or all keys are unresponsive and E6 persists, the touch control panel may be defective.
- Replace faulty module: Replace either the touch control panel assembly or the main control PCB depending on which is determined faulty. On many T-fal models, these are sold as separate parts.
Avoid using liquids directly on the control panel; always clean with a slightly damp cloth to prevent future keypad failures.
