Possible Causes
Stuck program button on touch panel, Corrupted program memory, Faulty rotary selector (if equipped), Control board logic fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing the control panel.
Simple resets:
- Unplug for 10 minutes, then plug back in and try selecting a different cooking mode.
- Clean the touch panel surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove any residue that might cause false touches.
Panel and selector checks:
- If your T-fal model has a rotary selector, rotate it through all positions several times to clear oxidation on contacts.
- Access the control panel and inspect the touch keypad or rotary encoder connections.
- Reseat the ribbon cable and check for cracks or damage on the panel.
- If a specific button appears stuck (always active), the touch panel may need replacement.
If P1 persists across all modes, replacement of the touch control panel or main control board is usually required.
