Possible Causes
Shorted NTC sensor on heater housing, Sensor wires shorted to chassis, Melted sensor insulation from overheating, Faulty main control board interpreting sensor signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the air fryer from power and let it cool fully before inspection.
- Reset and cool down: If the unit was used for a long cycle, allow at least 30 minutes to cool, then plug back in and test. E2 can sometimes be triggered by extreme over-temperature.
- Inspect air vents: Make sure the rear and top vents are not blocked. Overheating from poor ventilation can damage the sensor wiring.
- Internal inspection (advanced users):
- Remove the top cover to access the heater and sensor area.
- Look for melted insulation or wires touching the metal heater frame.
- Gently separate any wires that are touching hot metal and check for bare copper. If insulation is damaged, the sensor harness should be replaced.
- Sensor replacement: If the sensor body is cracked, charred, or reads near 0 Ω on a multimeter (shorted), it must be replaced with a compatible Tefal NTC sensor.
- Do not bypass: Never bypass or short the sensor to clear the error; this disables temperature safety and can cause fire.
