Possible Causes
Corrupted firmware in microcontroller, Failed EEPROM chip, Power surge damage, Manufacturing defect in control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the air fryer from mains before any disassembly.
- Power reset: Leave the unit unplugged for at least 15 minutes to fully discharge internal circuits. Plug back in and attempt to start a basic manual program.
- Check for other symptoms: If buttons are unresponsive or display segments are missing along with E9, the control PCB is likely damaged.
- Surge protection: If E9 appeared after a power cut or surge, avoid using the same outlet without a surge protector.
- Control board replacement: There is no user-serviceable way to reprogram or repair the EEPROM on most Tower air fryer boards. The practical fix is to replace the control PCB assembly, which should be done by a qualified technician or via Tower-authorized service.
