Possible Causes
Burned-out heating element, Loose heater connections, Open thermal fuse in heater circuit, Failed heater relay on main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the Tristar air fryer and let it cool completely before opening. Heating circuits can retain heat.
- Basic checks:
- Confirm temperature and time are set correctly and not on a keep-warm or fan-only mode.
- Ensure the basket is fully inserted; some models will not energize the heater if the basket switch is not engaged.
- Internal inspection (advanced):
- Remove the rear/top cover to access the heating element.
- Look for visible breaks, hot spots, or burn marks on the coil.
- Check that both heater terminals are firmly connected.
- Test components:
- Disconnect one heater lead and measure resistance across the element; an open circuit indicates a failed element.
- Test the thermal fuse in series with the heater; if open, replace with the same rating.
- Replace parts: Replace the heating element assembly or thermal fuse as needed. If both are good, the heater relay on the main control PCB may be defective and the board should be replaced.
