E5 appears on the display and the unit shuts off or never heats.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and let it cool. Do not attempt to measure live voltage unless you are trained and equipped.
- Visual inspection: Remove the rear or top cover to access the heating element assembly. Look for burnt connectors, discolored wires, or broken heater coils.
- Check heater continuity: Disconnect the heater leads from the control board or terminal block. Use a multimeter to measure resistance across the heating element. A typical air fryer heater will show a finite resistance (often 10–40 Ω). An open circuit indicates a failed heating element.
- Inspect connectors: If terminals are charred or loose, cut back to clean wire and install new high-temperature spade connectors. Ensure a tight fit on the heater tabs.
- Control board relay: If the heater tests good but E5 persists and there is no heat, the heater relay on the main control PCB may be stuck open or burned. Look for darkened areas or cracked solder joints around the relay. Replacement of the main control PCB is usually required.
Because the heater circuit carries high current, repairs should be done carefully. If unsure, contact a qualified technician.
