Possible Causes
Protective coatings on heating element burning off, Residual oils on non-stick basket, Low-quality plastic components near heater, Inadequate initial burn-in
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure good ventilation when performing burn-in cycles.
- Initial cleaning: Wash the basket and drawer thoroughly with warm soapy water and dry completely.
- Burn-in cycle: Run the air fryer empty at 200–205°C (390–400°F) for 15–20 minutes, then cool. Repeat 2–3 times if necessary, allowing ventilation.
- Inspect plastics: If odor persists, inspect interior plastic parts near the heater for discoloration or melting. Replace any deformed components.
- Stop use if odor is acrid: A sharp, electrical or acrid smell may indicate overheating wiring or components; in that case, discontinue use and inspect wiring and control board.
