Possible Causes
Misaligned basket not engaging switch, Broken door/basket microswitch, Bent switch actuator tab, Loose switch wiring connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the air fryer before accessing the switch area. Allow it to cool.
Steps to fix E9:
- Check basket insertion: Remove the basket and pan and reinsert them firmly until you hear or feel a click. Ensure no food debris is preventing full insertion.
- Inspect latch area: Look at the front of the unit where the basket slides in. Clean any grease or crumbs around the latch and switch actuator.
- Access the switch: Remove the bottom cover or front panel (depending on model) to locate the door/basket microswitch. It is usually mounted near the front opening with a small lever or plunger.
- Check alignment: Verify that the basket latch or metal tab properly contacts the switch lever when the basket is fully inserted. Gently bend the actuator tab if needed so it fully depresses the switch.
- Test the switch: With the unit unplugged, use a multimeter to check continuity across the switch terminals while pressing and releasing the lever. Replace the switch if it does not open and close reliably.
- Secure wiring: Ensure the switch wires are firmly connected and not broken.
Note: Do not bypass the door/basket switch; it is a safety device that prevents operation with the basket removed.
